A navy-dial tribute to Grand Seiko’s first hand-wound 9S watch, limited to 600 pieces.
Grand Seiko’s SBGW325 revisits the SBGW003, the 2001 watch that introduced the brand’s first hand-wound 9S movement. Its matte navy dial takes its color cue from Japanese indigo dyeing, setting sculpted silver Arabic numerals against gold accents on the seconds hand and GS logo. Dauphine hands sit beneath a box sapphire crystal, framed by a Zaratsu-polished stainless steel case measuring 37.3mm across, 11.7mm thick, and 44.3mm lug-to-lug. The manual-winding Caliber 9S64 delivers a 72-hour power reserve with rated accuracy of +5 to -3 seconds per day. The crocodile strap is hand-dyed indigo through the hon-ai natural dyeing process, with a spare grey calf strap in the box. Water resistance is limited to splashes. Its numeral typeface is Nobuhiro Kosugi’s design, drawn to harmonize with the Gothic GS signature—a relationship that gives the dial its character without relying on texture.
